mojoPortal 2.3.4.2 Released – And A New mojoPortal Skin For Integral Network Solutions

Hey guys, been a bit quiet on the blog front this end; sorry! We’re developing a few new products which is taking up a lot of time, no excuse though I know :0)
Anyhoo…… Just a quick note to let you know that mojoPortal 2.3.4.2 has now been released. According to Joe Audette it’s a bug fix release but it does also incorporate the move to Visual Studio 2010 which was recently released by Microsoft.
And, on a similar note; congratulations to Integral Network Solutions for whom we have just upgraded their previous structured cabling specialists website to a mojoPortal install.

I’ve just been doing some research on the various CMS products out there for .Net developers. This is something I do frequently just to keep upto date wth the developments out there.
I just came across a brilliant little few paragraphs by Ramto who takes a very high level yet informative look at mojoPortal vs DotNetNuke vs Umbraco.

mojoPortal Now Supported By Artisteer

Joe Audette has recently announced the fantastic news that mojoPortal skins are now compatible with Artisteer.
Over on the mojoPortal blog Joe mentions that a couple of Artisteer designs are actually included as skins in the new release.
For anyone unfamiliar with Artisteer it’s a fantastic licensed product which allows you to build a web design using a drag and drop interface; adding advanced elements and navigations with ease.
Artisteer then allows you to export your design in a variety of instantly compatible formats for some of the most popular web platforms out there, including WordPress, Joomla and now mojoPortal.

mojoPortal Skins Get Friendly New Admin Menu

Having designed a few mojoPortal skins for clients, it’s always been a tough call when deciding what to do with the admin links.
Previously you had two choices out of the box:
- Text links
- Icon links
Both of these methods work great functionally but present different issues; icons are fantastic for squeezing into mojoPortal skins, they’re unobtrusive and look clear and precise. However, to a less tech oriented user they can be a little unclear and you have to hover for a tooltip to see the link description.
