Collaboration: The Only Way To Get Things Done Properly?
Feb 13th
As a small business owner, or even someone working for a small business but flying the flag for a “department” (the lone graphic designer for example) it can be very easy to get your head down and forget that everyone has their own opinions.
Why do I say that?
I see the creative industry becoming more collaborative every day, with social media having a huge impact on this.
As this small business person slogging away trying to make a living, it’s all too easy to solely focus on speed and efficiency to get a job completed.
With the rise of social media, especially good old More >
How Firefox Has Become My Daily Hub
Feb 10th
I can remember not so long ago, I bet less than 18 months, when I’d have all sorts of software open just to run my day to day admin.
Back when I was rockin’ Windows I had all sorts of bits open in my task bar to get me through the day. It struck me earlier this week that everything that I do now is pretty much centralised online and that Firefox has become my central hub for everything.
Whether it’s management, invoicing, relationship management or even mundane things like mail or calendar (granted I do used the native Mac apps too More >
There’s An App For That – But Do I Go Apple or Android?
Jan 19th
Apps have obviously become a major part of our lives now and with more and more phones, ipods, ipads and laptops being enabled for app use, there are loads of new apps stores coming into light to offer us lots of different options when it comes to downloading our apps. Apple and Android are the two major players in this and there is lots of competition between them to find out which is the best.
First off, Apple is the tried and trusted company that has brought us the ipod and the newly released ipod touch and ipad, all of which More >
A Quick Look At Dreamweaver VS Eclipse
Jan 17th
When you’re designing your website the major focus point of it is going to be the appearance of it and, of course, the things you actually have written on there. However, creating an amazing website can be tough when you’re not sure which product to use when you’re designing it ready to upload to the masses. Dreamweaver and Eclipse are two very popular products at the moment in the web design field and both of them offer their own unique take on the design process.
If you don’t mind the extra costs, Dreamweaver is a very good platform to use because it’s More >
Mac vs PC 2010 – Life One Year After Moving To Mac
Dec 19th
Last November I finally made the jump from PC to Mac, an iMac 27 dual core running Snow Leopard to be precise, following my love for the iPhone. Since then I’ve also gotten myself a MacBook Pro 13 inch (that I’m writing this on as we speak) so that I can work a little more mobile and be less constrained to me desk.
Prior to owning my iMac I’d never owned a Mac, nor had I worked on one. but, growing tired of Windows lack of stability and my system slowing down in almost a direct opposite to Moore’s Law, I decided More >
Mini Book Review: Alan Sugar – What You See Is What You get
Nov 20th
Having being kidnapped and shipped to Egypt for a week I decided that I’d hit up some literature on the beach, and whilst I don’t normally post book reviews on here because they take too long, Lord Sugar’s autobiography however stood out for me, and as a valuable insight into being a successful businessperson I figured it worthy of a quick ramble.
Life & Times Of A Serial EntrepreneurPrior to reading this book I knew of Lord Sugar through, of course, the fantastic “The Apprentice” on BBC TV, and as a kid trying to like football in the 90s, I More >
