3 common SEO mistakes that could affect your Sheffield or U.K. business
How you can generate more enquiries online by avoiding some common SEO mistakes
SEO is a rapidly changing and long haul industry. However, there are some common rules that can be applied and mistakes that can be avoided. Take a look at the list below and see if your site suffers from any of these all too common SEO mistakes.
3 common SEO mistakes
- Targeting too many keywords per page – Think about what you offer, do you need to cram all your product or service keywords into every page? The best results come from relevant keywords per page. Try targeting 2 keywords or phrases per page and rework your copy to reflect.
- Site optimisation vs page optimisation- A lot of websites are optimised as one "unit". This means that each page has the same meta information, keywords and targets. These days search engines are looking for relevant content upon each page, which means that you should optimise each page on its own merits. Remember, your site is just a series of pages that happen to know each other; Google doesn't see a "site", rather this series of pages.
- Keyword cramming – The key to this is not to cram too many instances of your keywords into your copy. Of course, search engines want to see relevant keywords appearing fairly frequently but it's a common thought that the more occurences you have, the better you rank. This is usually not the case. As a rule of thumb remember to write your content for human visitors, not search engines.
