How Google Synonyms Are Working More And More Effectively

As a search marketer, Google synonym functionality poses some interesting problems. We optimise for keywords that we've strongly researched, and try to include as many quality variants that we can without sacrificing usability and copy quality. However, we can't really cover every base; there are always keywords providing entry points to your site that you won't have optimised for; usually longer tailed...

How To Make The Most Of Business Networking Events

I can only comment on my local experiences, and with regards small business networking, Barnsley is thriving; as is South Yorkshire in general. Anyway, going along to these networking events is great fun - and more often than not you get some free food and drink - bonus! However, maximising the impact of these...

Setting Up MobileMe To Send & Receive POP3 Email On iPhone & Mac

Hey all I've been looking for a way of setting up MobileMe to send & receive emails from my POP3 email accounts for a few days now, every solution that I came across had issues, until now (so far so good!). Note: This does not use mail forwarding. I wasn't keen on that... The problem: I run a personal @me.com address and a work POP3 account. The POP3 account always annoyed me as I always wanted one...

10 Best iPhone Apps For Killing 10 Minutes Before A Meeting

We've all been there - turning up at a client's office, a job interview or even a doctor's appointment and "making a great impression" by being 10 or 15 minutes early. What do you do? Skim over the old magazines on the coffee table? Nah... For anyone sporting an iPhone, the world is officially your time killing oyster. Like any good geek, I absolutely love the iPhone, and it becomes the perfect time waster in...

A Look At Threddie: Review & First Thoughts

Well today I came across (via @smashingmag) a new productivity tool called Threddie. Whilst calling this a fully fledged Threddie review is probably overstating it a touch, I did have a few thoughts after using it for an hour or two. First though, for those of you looking for a quick "is it any good or not", let me save you some reading: It's brilliant. Threddie Review: What Is It?! Allow me to quote...

Dashalytics 3.05 Google Analytics Widget Not Working On Your Mac Dashboard?

Aug 26th

Posted by Mark in Blogging

I’ve been using Dashalytics for a while now to track specific Google Analytics accounts from my Mac Dashboard.

The version 3.05 though started posing a few problems, Dashalytics wasn’t retrieving site information for my account and so the Mac Dashboard Widget just didn’t work.

Fixing Dashalytics Google Analytics Mac Dashboard Widget

Well it looks like there were a few little PHP issues with version 3.05 of the widget that were kindly fixed by GameBit and then improved upon by António Costa.

Just download version 3.06 of the Dashalytics Google Analytics Mac Dashboard Widget and buy the two guys mentioned above a beer for helping you More >

Threddie.com - Brainstorming For Busy People

Well today I came across (via @smashingmag) a new productivity tool called Threddie.

Whilst calling this a fully fledged Threddie review is probably overstating it a touch, I did have a few thoughts after using it for an hour or two.

iPhone 4 Bumper Review

So I got my iPhone 4 bumper a few days ago – I’ve been using it since and decided to post my own little iPhone 4 bumper review.

iPhone 4 Bumper – Review And Thoughts

Well as with everything Apple, the bumper is well packaged and well delivered. All good on that front – gotta love Apple’s packaging. Smooth.

When I plumped for the bumper I was in two minds regarding which free iPhone 4 case to go for; there are lots of other great cases available as part of the program, including some smart looking Belkin cases.

But, I’d bought a cheap More >

After putting up a post about small business networking, and how to make the most of it; I thought it’d be handy to follow it up with some thoughts on how to really make the most of any new client meetings you may book after you’ve been networking.

Of course these thoughts apply to any new client meeting that you make and also apply across a range of services that you may provide – however for the purpose of this post, I’m going to think about you as a web designer going in to look at a new web design for More >
